Day 31..."One Month Down and Eleven to Go"
Congratulations you have now read for a month. Habits begin to take lasting form after 30 days. Today's reading is more plagues...locusts, darkness, and the forecast of the death of first born children. A very heart wrenching plague. Pharoah refuses to let Israel go to the end. Psalm 31 promises a rock for us..."For you are my rock and my fortress;and for your name's sake you lead me and guide me" Jesus miracles continue to amaze and we have another feeding of the multitude story. This time the feeding of 4000 with 7 basketfulls left over. God's abundance to provide for need arrives again. Hopefully we have seen God's abundance through reading His Word. Tomorrow we begin month two of Discovering God's Word- a 365 Day voyage. I WOULD LIKE TO INVITE YOU TO SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS OF THE FIRST MONTH. WHAT HAS READING THROUGH THE BIBLE MEANT TO YOU?

Are the plagues and other historical type events that we have read over the past couple days, plagues etc. documented in any other place, ie Egyptian history, Muslim religious documents, etc. I was also confused by the fact that magicians were able to perform some of the same "miracles" as Moses. Makes it seem less special.
I was a bit reluctant to commit to the daily reading when I first heard the idea. But, I did it anyway and am glad I did. To my surprise, I now look forward to the reading every day. I had many teachings from the Bible over the years, but have never actually read more than a few pages at a time.
All I can say is, it's about time.
I appreciate Philip's commentary each day. I am amazed at seeing the huge amounts of faith displayed and realize I have a long way to go.
Recently, either the Discover Channel or the History Channel had a presentation on Egypt that documented the "Plagues" including the death of the first born. The important part of this example for us is that in the last days, false "mircles" will be used to deceive many, just like the magicians tried to do in Moses' time. God Triumphs!
As I recall some history is recorded of the plagues in Egypt.
History has a way of telling victories better than defeats. What was a victory for Israel was humiliation for others at the Red Sea. In short, I would not ask a Penn State fan to recall the great moments in Ohio State Football.
Here we are a year later. I guess the habits have formed. I'm glad to have this 'habit'. For those reading the first time....stick with it.
Thank you Philip for your helpful comments.
