Day 65..."Tatoo's, Loving Neighbor, Good Soil"
Leviticus addresses more easily understood subjects today...like tatoo's and loving our neighbor. Some of today's reading even sounds like the Ten Commandments. In the midst of such binding rituals and laws...this chapter offers a breath of fresh air about treating people well and fair. The Psalmist speaks of the wonder of the environment..."You visit the earth and water it; you greatly enrich it;the river of God is full of water;you provide their grain, for so you have prepared it. You water its furrows abundantly, settling its ridges, softening it with showers, and blessing its growth. You crown the year with your bounty; your wagon tracks overflow with abundance. The pastures of the wilderness overflow, the hills gird themselves with joy, the meadows clothe themselves with flocks, the valleys deck themselves with grain, they shout and sing together for joy." My father must have loved these passages. He loved the environment! Jesus speaks of four outcomes of seed. Three bad and one good. Why do people not get it? When they hear the Word. First outcome...devil snatches away before any roots form. Second outcome...the trouble of life makes one fall away. Third outcome...the cares and desires of life override the desire for the spiritual life. Fourth outcome...GOOD SOIL THAT PRODUCES AND PRODUCES AND PRODUCES!!!
