Day 75..."Census Building, Unshakable God, Help My Unbelief"
The Book of Numbers continues to emphasize a headcount of people. A census is instructed of all males from birth upward in chapter three. In chapter four (Levites), the instructions are males 30 years to 50 years. There is a reference to the unauthorized fire of Nadab and Abihu, in Leviticus, and the lack of descendents. In the wake of an earthquake in Hawaii, the Psalmist speaks of the unshakable God..."When the earth totters, and all its inhabitants,it is I who keep steady its pillars." Mark describes the "Transfiguration" as Moses and Elijah appear and Jesus is transformed in appearance. Jesus heals a son who has foamed from the mouth and battled convulsions since being young. The father said something profound when asked if he thought Jesus could heal his son..."I believe help my unbelief." A wonderful statement for all of us.
Jesus follows healing the son by lifting up the power of prayer.

How often I have been like the Disciples in today's reading, "Who did not understand and were afraid to ask him." I am reminded that elsewhere, Jesus encourages me to seek, ask and knock. I believe that Jesus really wants to tell us the answer to our many questions.
