Day 83..."Duties of Priests, Purification, End of Times"

Numbers sounds like Leviticus today with the duties of the priests and laws of purification. Obviously, there was great concern of death and being in the presence of a dying person. Even the priests were included in being excluded when considered unclean. This teaching is quite a contrast from Jesus touching and healing dead persons. Also, consider the "Good Samaritan" was even more dramatic realizing the Samaritan was aiding a Jew who could have been dead on the side of the road. Some scholars think this is why the Priest and Levite kept moving down the road. The Psalmist speaks of enemies with crafty plans. God will have the final word..."that they may know that you alone, whose name is the Lord, are the Most High over all the earth." Mark teaches about the end of times. There a variety of images that tell of the uncertainty and instabilty of that time. We do know there is certainty and stability in God all the time...His word endures forever.
