Day 86..."Worship of Baal...God's Patience in Anger...Jesus' Ministry is so Brief"

The worship of Baal angers the Lord. The first and second commandments are not to be compromised. Notice how Moses states the demise of Israel..."While Israel lived in Shittim, the people began to whore with the daughters of Moab. These invited the people to the sacrifices of their gods, and the people ate and bowed down to their gods. So Israel yoked himself to Baal of Peor. And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Israel." Bowing down to other gods has zero tolerance. We will read more about the worship of Baal with a dramatic story of Elijah. Numbers talks of God's anger the Psalmist says God is slow to anger..."But you, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness. Jesus anger is evident in the temple in "holy anger" but not during the trying events of arrest and trial. I was moved by reading the Gospel of Mark, as to how fast we moved to the closing events of Jesus' journey to the cross. Yet...our Lord's earthly ministry was only three years.
