Day 107..."Every seven years forgive debt, set free...Let the redeemed say so!...Core Teaching"

Deuteronomy, chapter 15, speaks of forgiving debt after seven years. (Sabbatical Year) Can we imagine the global economy, if this were to happen today? There are words about Israel being a loaner and not a borrower and ruler not ruled. This chapter also encourages to show mercy for the poor and not hold grudges. The Psalmist says..." Let the redeemed of the Lord say so"...as I read this Psalm my mood was lifted with all the positive imagery of life, fruit, water, and blessedness. Luke writes of some of the core teaching of the Gospels...disciples must be ready for acceptance or rejection, God will provide (the feeding of the 5000) and there is always plenty instead of scarcity. Jesus speaks in a metaphor of paradox in losing life to find life. (relinquish control) He also states one must be willing to take up their cross.

In the forgiving of debt are we not given a picture of God's forgiveness of our debt (sins). The good news is that forgiveness is not a one time thing, something I need each day - before I pick up my cross and follow Jesus.
