Day 95,,,"Moses asks but is refused...Joyful Noise...John Prepares the Way!"
Moses wrote in the first person in chapter 3 of Deuteronomy...“And I pleaded with the Lord at that time, saying, ‘O Lord God, you have only begun to show your servant your greatness and your mighty hand. For what god is there in heaven or on earth who can do such works and mighty acts as yours? Please let me go over and see the good land beyond the Jordan, that good hill country and Lebanon.’ Can we imagine how disappointing this was to not finish the journey? The Lord instructed Moses not to enter the land. The Psalmist writes of making a joyful noise... "Oh come, let us sing to the Lord;let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation!" Thank goodness singing is not just for professionals. Making a joyful noise is what I do when I sing. How about you? John the Baptist is the focus of today's Luke reading as he preaches baptism and repentence. Later...he is arrested. The role of John was to prepare the way for Jesus as reflected in the words of Isaiah.
