Day 98..."Great Commandment...Jesus Ministry is Stated and Begins"
The Greatest Commandment?..."Love God with all your heart, soul, and might." This is the key to life says Edward Chandler. Who can argue that honoring God first is the greatest decision we ever make. This step sets in motion all other life priorities. We are to constantly remind our children to love God first. Place these laws (on your foreheads) where you will see them the text teaches. (Reminders to keep God first are necessary today) Long life is a possibility, when God is first. Why? Our stress is less and our worry is less. We live longer because we trust God. (Obviously, this is not to be taken literally in light of illness and tragedy) Those who worship God regularly live longer one study concludes. I agree! The Psalmist connects with Israel's journey..."He has remembered his steadfast love and faithfulness to the house of Israel." Jesus begins his ministry by referencing Isaiah saying... He has come to preach good news to the poor, restore sight to the blind, heal the brokenhearted, and release the oppressed. He also begins many healing encounters, in which the Gospel of Luke (physician) is famous. In this text, Jesus heals everyone that comes to Him until sundown.
