Day 125..."Moses blesses Israel...Trust God...Three Lessons on Discipleship"

Moses, chapter 33, blesses Israel...the twelve tribes of Israel. He is preparing to die and the people preparing for the promised land. We are almost done with Deuteronomy, and, consequently; the final chapter of Moses will be tomorrow. The trusting of God is a central theme of the Bible and is the signature passage in Psalm 125..."Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved, but abides forever." The ability to trust and being solid do belong together. Distrust makes a person and situations weak and unstable. The Gospel of Luke provides three points of discipleship...1) Be persistent (widow who wore down the judge). 2) Be humble not proud ("Lord be merciful to me a sinner"). 3) Enter the Kingdom with a love for children and being childlike.

How not to use the Bible - A man read the blessing of Asher as recorded in today's readings and believed that "bathing the foot in oil" meant that there was oil in the land allotted to Asher. I am one of many who lost money in this misadventure.
