Day 130..."The sights and sounds of Jericho...Sad Saducees"

In Joshua we read the dramatic story of the walls of Jericho falling down. This is an exciting text to read with the imagination of our five senses.

#1 Sound (Horns blaring, people shouting, marching
and a wall falling) )
#2 Sights (Imagine a large wall and multitudes of people
gathered in anticipation. What a "buzz"
and "stir" this would create!
The Psalmist is confident there is hope in the Lord for those who wait..."I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in his word I hope; my soul waits for the Lordmore than watchmen for the morning, more than watchmen for the morning. O Israel, hope in the Lord! For with the Lord there is steadfast love, and with him is plentiful redemption. And he will redeem Israel from all his iniquities." Jesus encounters questions about an absurb hypothetical story by the Saducees. Jesus elevated a silly question into a profound answer... (God) "He is not God of the dead, but of the living, for all live to him." I am reminded of a childrens song about the Saducees. Why is it they (Saducees) have a bad attitude? THEY ARE "SAD YOU SEE."

We will learn in later readings, that the faithfulness of Rehab is rewarded. She is one of the Great, Great grandmothers of David - and Jesus! Praise God for your faithfulness!
