Day 150..."Song of Deborah...A way to peace and purpose...Clueless"
Judges, chapter five is the long and extended Song of Deborah expressing the national victory of Israel. According to the NIV notes a commemorative song was a common practice. In chapter six, God's strength in the face of human weakness is highlighted...“Please, Lord, how can I save Israel? Behold, my clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father's house.” And the Lord said to him, “But I will be with you." This theme of strength in weakness is prevalent throughout the Bible. Proverbs 3 contains one of my favorite passages..."Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths." Is this not the way to a purpose and peace? John introduces the cleansing of the temple early in His Gospel. Also, we read where Jesus references his death and resurrection in comparison to the temple. The hearers were clueless as to what this meant.
