Day 173..."Samuel dies...David marries...Saul is up to no good again..."Heaven Waits"

Samuel dies. Little is said about his death compared to other Biblical heroes. He is significant by implementing a King system for Israel. David marries Abigail...and another. This practice of numerous wives is confusing with David and later Solomon. Saul is still around and is out for David again. David again shows mercy. These dramatic encounters reveal the best and worst in human nature. The Proverbs are especially creative today about meddling..."Whoever meddles in a quarrel not his ownis like one who takes a passing dog by the ears" and "For lack of wood the fire goes out,and where there is no whisperer, quarreling ceases." The teachings of Jesus provides some of the most comforting words of all...“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way to where I am going.” We are never alone and Heaven is in our future...reassuring words indeed!

According to Jewish Traditions, these statements by Jesus recorded in John 14 are the words spoken by a groom to his bride at betrothal. The groom would go to his father's house, add on a room and furnish it with food for 7 days. Then, when the grooms father said the room was ready, he would release the son to go get his bride. Only the father (God) knows when the room is ready & when the groom (Jesus) can return to get his bride (Church).
