Day 176..."Saul wounded and takes his life...With no vision the people perish...Love"

I Samuel ends with the story of the death of Saul. He is wounded and asks to be taken out of misery. When he is refused he falls on the sword himself. Saul is one of the saddest personalities of the Bible in life and in death. An often quoted proverb that lifts up vision..."Where there is no prophetic vision the people cast off restraint." True words then and now. Vision sees beyond what is visible and what one can grasp. As in the sermon Sunday...Jesus is the vine and we are the branches. We are to bear fruit, discard unnecessary branches, and prune that we can bear more fruit. As in I Corinthians 13, love is the greatest!
Jesus says..."“This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends." Love and bearing fruit go hand and hand.
