Day 177..."David becomes King of Judah...Stupid?...Hatred"
David heard of the news of Saul and Jonathan's death. He grieved and I am guessing it was over Jonathon more than Saul. The messenger said he killed Saul and we read differently yesterday. His approach with the news resulted in David killing him. Was he seeking a better fate with a lie? David does become King of Judah. Did the writer of Proverbs really say that? He must have had a bad day when he wrote..."Surely I am too stupid to be a man.I have not the understanding of a man." Jesus says hatred will come from the world and He also promises the Holy Spirit.

Beginning with Abraham and continuing, we are encouraged to consider ourselves as travelers through this world but residents of "another Kingdom" God's Kingdom. In today's readings, Jesus indicates that we are not of this world and like aliens, this world will hate us. Elsewhere, God's word indicates that to be loved (Embraced) by this world is war with God. Praise God for the difference Jesus makes in our lives and relationships.
Philip, thank you for your comment on the two different accounts of Saul's death. Dusty
