Day 331..."Ezekiel's wife dies...Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego do not fry...Paul seeks what is lacking"

In a lengthy account describing the seige of Jerusalem, we have a softer story emerge. Ezekiel's wife dies. She is referred to as "the delight of your eye" referring to Ezekiel. This brief reporting softens the story of Ezekiel away from the harsh realities of sin. Daniel tells us a story of "bringing on the heat" and Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego emerge from the flames unscathed. I am preaching on this text in two weeks. Paul really wants to visit Thessalonica and must feel a need to see them face to face. His letter sounds more like "hang in there until I get there." He says he will bring them "what is lacking" in their faith, when he arrives. This is an interesting topic of "what is our faith lacking?" Another sermon idea? Look for it sometime in late 2007 or 2008.
