Day 346..."More visions...Titus...Seven Churches Summary"
Zechariah has visions of a flying scroll, a woman in a basket, and four chariots. These are all pretty descriptive and "Revelation like." The crown and temple are symbols of the restoration of Israel.
Titus provides another list of attributes for those who oversee..."For an overseer, as God's steward, must be above reproach. He must not be arrogant or quick-tempered or a drunkard or violent or greedy for gain, but hospitable, a lover of good, self-controlled, upright, holy, and disciplined. He must hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught, so that he may be able to give instruction in sound doctrine and also to rebuke those who contradict it."
The Book of Revelation begins with seven churches critiqued. You may remember a sermon I did at the beginning of the year with a brief synopsis. Ephesus, was commended for their rejecting evil but warned for forgotting their first love...Jesus. Smyrna was commended for their faithfulness with no weaknesses. Pergamos and Thyatira both were reprimanded for tolerance of idolatry...they were also commended for their faith. Churches are made of people and therefore not perfect. Consequently, no church is perfect. Not a bad lesson for people of faith...seeking to grow.
