Day 349..."Two staffs...Hebrews...worthy to open the seal"

In the reading from Zechariah we read about two symbolic staffs named...union and favor...."So I became the shepherd of the flock doomed to be slaughtered by the sheep traders. And I took two staffs, one I named Favor, the other I named Union. And I tended the sheep." I noticed in the NKJV the names of the staffs were "beauty"(grace) and "bonds." God's intention is to take care of the sheep. Favor was broken in two which is symbolic of the broken covenant. I like the metaphor of what each staff stands for...God's grace and unity.

Hebrews begins with lofty words..."You, Lord, laid the foundation of the earth in the beginning, and the heavens are the work of your hands; they will perish, but you remain;they will all wear out like a garment, like a robe you will roll them up, like a garment they will be changed. But you are the same, and your years will have no end.” And to which of the angels has he ever said, “Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet”?
Are they not all ministering spirits sent out to serve for the sake of those who are to inherit salvation? We are going to notice Hebrews reads like an Old Testament book with Jesus at the center.

Revelation makes a strong connection with Jesus in chapter five. He alone is worthy to open the seal of the scroll. He has redeemed us. He is worthy! We have been given the gift of life through Jesus.
