Day 52 What was the charge against Jesus?
Have we ever considered...what was His offence? Why would He be sentenced to death. The accusation of blasphemy is the reason cited in today's reading. As I read today, I remembered how humankind will find a reason to condemn. The Psalmist says it like this..."You love evil more than good, and lying more than speaking what is right." How true. (You can read more on day 52 in September 2006)

Combining comments from yesterday and today - we are all guilty. All of our sins were placed on Jesus - He had to die for our sins - there was no other atonement for us. We too have to die and take up the life of Jesus - the new birth. This is represented by Baptism - our death, burial and resurrection to a new life in Jesus. Old ways are passing away - all things become new! The old person is dead in Jesus - the new person alive to God!
Yes Jim. In Christ, we die spiritually to live abundantly! Paul teaches about this when he says in I Corinthians 15:31..."I die daily." In Christ we die to self to live abundantly!
