Day 149 Can anything good come from Nazareth?
The story of Nathaniel is less known than some of the coversion stories. His change begins with a sarcastic question..."can anything good come from Nazareth?" John reports the story this way..."Nathanael said to him, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” Philip said to him, “Come and see.” Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him and said of him, “Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom there is no deceit!” Nathanael said to him, “How do you know me?” Jesus answered him, “Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.” Nathanael answered him, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!” Jesus answered him, “Because I said to you, ‘I saw you under the fig tree,’ do you believe? You will see greater things than these.” And he said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, you will see heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.” Quite a story for the beginning of the Gospel of John. Many life changing stories are in John and I will be pointing them out.

1 Comments:
The truth of these stories is only as good as how we respond to them. Judges points out how quickly a person turns to his own way because of our "Heart Condition." If when these stories are used by Jesus to show us our "Heart" we respond by saying Yes Lord, I repent - change my heart - then the living Word of God will move in our lives to change us from Glory to Glory to the Glory of God. Please realize that the change will lead us away from this world toward the Kingdom of God. Praise God.
