Day 161 Where did the saying come from?

The Proverbs are filled with quotable statements. Several of these become wise sayings that people forget actually are in the Bible. One such saying would be..."Whoever spares the rod hates his son,but he who loves him is diligent to discipline him." This actually appears in today's reading. In a point of interest, so does "born anew" Nicodemus who defends Jesus in the presence of his peers.
